Art Deco lamp glass shade by RETHONDES in stunning mottled burgundy tints hammered steel base France 1930s Item ref 2756A
Art Deco lamp in beautiful mottled burgundy tinted glass and silver/gray hammered steel base. Nice size 37cm tall (15”). Original vintage France 1930s.
Mottled glass shade signed RETHONDES in shades of red, mauve and rose. Impressive lit. RETHONDES is a village in France near Compiègne where DEGUE had his factory. Some references online infer there was a working relationship between the two. The glass is thick and well made, there is a moulding flaw 7mm diameter (1/3”) perhaps caused by an air bubble near the surface, no missing glass and it is shown in the pictures so you can gauge its significance. No other chips or cracks.
Hammered steel base providing a simple but graceful support to the glass shade. Nice craftsmanship and gray/silver patina to the metal. Vintage original.
Furnished with new wiring and switch for 220v or 110v.
